Fishing
Due to pristine nature and crystal clear water, fishing in Bohinj is a unique experience. Popular fishing species are lake and brown trout, tusk, grayling, chub, rainbow trout and lake char. The fishing districts are Lake Bohinj (from Ukanc to the bridge at the Church of St. John/Janez in Ribčev Laz), the Sava Bohinjka River (from the St. John's Bridge to the road bridge in Bohinjska Bistrica) and the Mostnica stream (from Tinček dam in Stara Fužina to the confluence with Jezernica or Sava Bohinjka). Fishing permits are issued by their manager, the Bohinj Fishing Family, who also regulates fishing seasons. Catches from the lake, where several types of fishing are possible, may be taken, but in the river and stream only fly fishing, based on the “catch–release” practice, is possible. The most exclusive fishing area is Mostnica, where only five fishermen a day can fly fish.
